Most of the Isla Mujeres fishing is done offshore and there are boats available from a few hundred dollars to luxurious yachts which can go for as much as a few thousand dollars.

Light tackle fishing in Isla Mujeres is considered done in Blue water and is basically casting for offshore species like Sailfish, Bonitos, Dorados and Barracudas. Most of the time 20lbs braided line or mono is the lightest they go for these species. Isla Blanca and Cancun are more suitable for light tackle fishing with let’s say 10 pound test line.
