I get many clients that ask me where they can buy or rent fishing tackle in Cancun. Here in Cancun things are not quite the same as the States or Canada so my first recommendation will be to buy or bring your gear from home. On our website you can find info on what to bring:

If you want to rent a rod and reel in Cancun you’ll find yourself quickly out of luck as all marinas and stores either only sell equipment or use it strictly on their charters. In the Cancun hotel zone there are no tackle shops whatsoever and as much as we would love to have a Basspro or Cabelas here, this is just not the case.
If you don’t want to bring your own gear there are a few options and although limited there are a few fishing shops in Cancun that sell gear suitable for some DIY fishing in Cancun.
